I wanted to show you a bit about why we created our summertime reading program.
For me, it was since of my students.
Over the years of mentor in my private knowing center, moms and dads would bring their children to me that lagged in reading and spelling.

Sometimes they were just a bit behind, in some cases they were method behind, and in some cases they were at grade level and simply wanted to advance much faster.
Sometimes this was because the trainees had discovering problems like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was just because the instructors did not teach all of the particular skills needed to read.
There is a science-proven, step-by-step manner in which all kids can prosper with reading. But, sadly, teachers themselves frequently are not taught how to teach kids in this way.

The problem was that I was just able to see them for an hour at a time and only twice a week.
How could I get these trainees' abilities up while not just offering a band-aid solution?
Traditional tutors often simply deal with homework. This does not resolve the root cause of trainees' troubles and does not actually get their skills up.
So, I went to the research and what I gained from my coaches in summer programs for black students my early years of mentor.
I found that short activities frequently produce much better results than long labored work.
I discovered that teaching in an organized and structured method to target each location of reading and spelling worked.

I discovered that short everyday fluency practice helps all trainees check out faster, more properly, and naturally improves their comprehension abilities.
I found that utilizing graphic organizers assists trainees discover the essence and details, series events, and organize their ideas to improve their comprehension. Students could finally understand and picture what they check out.

I found that teaching through our senses (hearing, seeing, and doing) improved their reading and spelling skills much faster. It did not matter if they had learning challenges or if they were just merely wanting to advance faster.
I create a program of these findings into short 5-20 minute day-to-day activities that I might do with my trainees.
It wasn't long before my students and parents started seeing remarkable results. Students that lagged by 1-2 years often got up to grade level in 2-4 months.
Teachers began to ask what I was doing with these kids. Moms and dads wished to know what the magic sauce was.
I knew I needed to make my program offered to more trainees no matter where they live. I required to make the program in a way that moms and dads can do it with their kids on their schedule in your home.
This is why I developed the summertime reading program.

The program does take some involvement from a moms and dad for grades K-2, however for grades 3-8, many kids can do most activities in the program on their own.
